Cari Levy, MD, PhD, CMD

Cari Levy, MD, PhD, CMD, is a geriatrician and Certified Medical Director with board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She began serving as a nursing home medical director in 2003 and as Director of Palliative Care at the Denver Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in 2006. In her role as Associate Director of the Denver-Seattle Center for Veteran-Centric and Value-Driven Care, she works with over 30 health services researchers dedicated to improving care delivery for Veterans and her research specifically focuses on improving the quality and range of long-term care services available to Veterans.    She is also participating in a Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI) Program to evaluate the new VA Life Sustaining Treatment Initiative in long term care. Dr. Levy is also currently President-elect of AMDA, The Society for Post-Acute and Long Term Care Medicine. Dr. Levy attended Pepperdine University for undergraduate training followed by medical school at the University of Colorado. She then began her internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University in 1997 and served as Chief Resident in 2001. After completing residency, she returned to Colorado for a fellowship in geriatrics and a PhD in Clinical Sciences.
